UC highlights Cordilleran culture in COR de MAYO Festival

BAGUIO CITY, May 17(PIA) — The University of the Cordilleras is inviting the public to experience the rich culture and tradition of the Cordilleras in the “COR de MAYO” festival set on May 17 to 20 at the UC in Baguio City.

This is part of its commitment to uphold the vision of its founder, Atty. Benjamin Romero Salvosa – who envisioned UC to be in the forefront of the preservation and promotion of Filipino culture .

Mindanaoan clothing designs showcased in country’s ecotourism pageant

PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte, May 17 (PIA) -The unique Mindanaoan tapestry was showcased during the search for Mr. and Miss Hannah’s Ecotourism Philippines 2017 at the Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Barangay Balaoi, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte on Saturday.

This developed as the 12 pairs of beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen, who were the finalist to the pageant, worn these Mindanaoan clothing designs during their casual wear and formal gown attire.

Error-ridden Ilokano Book Draws Ire From Ilokano Writers

BATAC, Ilocos Norte, May 9 — The country’s Ilokano writers have assailed the publication of a book that is replete with errors in Ilokano grammar, ignores the language orthography and other usage, and is now being sold to elementary teachers in Ilocos Norte as material for the MTB-MLE program of the Department of Education for Grades 1, 2, and 3.

Published by Danabon Enterprises in Barangay Buttong in Laoag City, the book was written by a certain Jhony C. Azada of Nueva Era National High School and edited by Maria S. Eliza, a teacher who, they say, is also ignorant of Ilokano syntax and grammar. The book is currently being sold in National Book Stores.
